Experience

Your First Experience of Energy Regulation

Reading about your energy system can only take you so far.

The real understanding comes through experience.

This guided practice introduces one of the foundational skills of Energy Embodiment: energy regulation through grounding.

Using attention and intention, you'll begin working with your energetic anatomy by connecting with three primary chakras, establishing a grounding cord and running your emotional energy down and through your body.

As you move through the practice, simply notice what you experience.

Pay attention to any shifts in your body, your awareness, or your sense of presence.

Bring your curiosity.

Notice what you feel before you begin.

Then notice what has shifted when you're finished.

Before You Begin

Set aside the next 10–15 minutes for yourself.

Choose a quiet place where you're unlikely to be interrupted. If you can, silence your phone and let the people around you know you'll be unavailable for a few minutes.

Find a comfortable seated position with both feet resting on the floor, or choose any position that allows you to remain relaxed, present, and alert.

This practice is an opportunity to experience one of the foundational skills of Energy Embodiment: energy regulation.

As you move through the meditation, simply notice what you experience. Pay attention to any shifts in your body, your emotional experience, your awareness, or your sense of presence.

Approach the practice with curiosity. Your experience is unique to you, and there is no "right" way for it to unfold.

Understanding the Meaning We Make

Every moment, your mind is making sense of your experience.

Long before you're consciously aware of it, your brain is asking questions like:

  • Is this safe?

  • What does this mean?

  • What should I do?

  • Who am I in this situation?

Most of this happens automatically.

Our interpretations are shaped by our history, our relationships, our nervous system, our emotional state, and the stories we've learned about ourselves and the world.

As a result, two people can experience the very same event and leave with completely different conclusions.

The experience may be shared.

The meaning rarely is.

When we understand what our body is communicating, learn to regulate our emotional energy, and become curious about the meaning we're making, we gain the freedom to respond more intentionally to life.

The goal isn't to have a different experience. It's to develop a different relationship with the experience you're having.
